Curated: carefully chosen and thoughtfully organized or presented
When we think of a curated space, our mind may drift to an art museum, where all details are attended to regarding the placement of paintings and sculptures, the interpretive displays, and the ambience of the room. Only the sense of sight is being prioritized. Touch is clearly deemphasized!
When we imagine curating the senses, let’s say in the month of May, spring takes all of our senses (31 at last count!) literally by storm, imbues and splashes our senses with scents from the ultimate perfume shop, sounds from the greatest symphony, and visual wonders that take our breath away! The Elders (knew) know where the tastes were to be found, and unlike the Louvre, countless treasures in the natural world draw us in to be touched.
What makes taking our senses on an adventure rapturous, is that the Country Rambling time encompasses pure discovery. The outdoor room is never climate controlled. Today as I write, the first thunderstorm in years rumbled to our doorstep and left in its wake dew-glistened grass, puddles, and when the gray clouds dissipated, a feel-good sun’s warmth and a sky full of puffballs!
Spring is simply not to be wasted indoors. It is here and gone in a moment, yet our minds and souls can be immersed in the deep beauty for days. And we can inevitably find ourselves, through being a full participant, in utter joy and child-like wonder.
“There is magic in this place. You just have to sit and breathe and wait and it will find you.” Anthony Doerr in Cloud Cuckoo Land
